AGARTALA: Joining nationwide celebrations, the main state-level function of the 80th Independence Day was held with immense enthusiasm, dignity, and patriotic fervor at the historic Assam Rifles Ground ( स्वामी Vivekananda Maidan / Vivekananda Stadium) in Agartala.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha unfurled the National Flag (Tiranga) as the Chief Guest, inspected the combined parade, and addressed the citizens of Tripura.
Key Highlights of the Ceremonial Function
- National Flag Hoisting & Parade Inspection: CM Dr. Manik Saha ceremonially hoisted the Tricolor, followed by the National Anthem. Accompanied by Director General of Police (DGP) G.K. Rao, the Chief Minister inspected the parade contingent featuring Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Assam Rifles, BSF, Civil Defence, NCC, and NSS cadets.
- State Economic Progress: Addressing the state, Dr. Manik Saha highlighted that Tripura’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has doubled over the past six years and the state now ranks 2nd in the Northeast in terms of GDP growth and per capita income.
- Healthcare & Social Welfare: The Chief Minister noted key achievements, including an MoU signed with AIIMS New Delhi for upgrading GBP Hospital, the successful rehabilitation of 6,935 Bru families, and significant drops in crime rates.
- Cultural Presentations: The official program concluded with vibrant patriotic dance, yoga, and musical performances presented by school and college students from across Agartala.
