AGARTALA: Marking the grand conclusion of Shravan, thousands of devotees gathered at major Shiva temples across Agartala on Monday.
They performed Jal Abhishekam and offered prayers to Lord Mahadev, as reported by Tripura24.in.
Spiritual fervor peaked as long queues of men, women, and youth—many of whom observed day-long fasts—formed outside prominent shrines.
Moreover, Tripura24.in notes shrines such as Central Road Shiv Bari, Battala Shiv Mandir, and Banamalipur Shiv Mandir drew crowds.
Highlights of the Sacred Observance
- Overnight Water Collection from Khayerpur Ghat: Demonstrating deep faith and tradition, hundreds of devotees traveled to the Khayerpur 14 Devta Mandir riverbank (ghat) on Sunday night to collect holy water. Carrying decorated water containers (kwar), they walked long distances on foot back to the city to offer the water early Monday morning.
- Offerings & Rituals: worshipers patiently queued from the early hours before dawn, holding brass containers filled with sacred water, milk, bel leaves (bilva patra), datura, honey, and sugarcane juice to perform rituals for family peace, health, and prosperity.
- Vibrant Temple Atmosphere: The temple corridors resonated with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and Shiva Chalisa recitations throughout the day.
- Crowd & Security Management: Temple administration committees, accompanied by local police and volunteers, implemented disciplined queue management systems to ensure smooth entry and safety for the overflowing crowds.
