Indian Navy showcases its strength through successful anti-ship firings, demonstrating readiness for combat operations
In a display of its combat readiness and capabilities, the Indian Navy recently conducted multiple successful anti-ship firings, showcasing its prowess in long-range precision strikes. This demonstration comes in the midst of heightened tensions with Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The Indian Navy took to social media on Sunday to share the news of the successful firings, highlighting the readiness of its platforms, systems, and crew for potential offensive actions. The Navy emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests and maintaining peace and security in the region.
According to officials, the Navy was already on a missile-firing deployment when the anti-ship firings took place. The demonstration showcased the Navy’s ability to swiftly transition from peacetime operations to combat readiness while remaining at sea without the need to return to base ports.
The participating warships included Kolkata-class destroyers, Nilgiri-class and Krivak-class frigates, along with the Navy’s tankers and the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. Additionally, the maritime patrol aircraft P-8Is were also deployed in the Arabian Sea during the exercises.
One notable achievement during the firings was the successful test-firing of the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile by the indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Surat. This precision cooperative engagement of a sea-skimming target marked a significant milestone in enhancing India’s defense capabilities.
The timing of these demonstrations is especially significant as tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists, has led to increased military activities in the region.
The Indian Navy’s display of strength and readiness through successful anti-ship firings serves as a clear message of deterrence to adversaries and reaffirms India’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the maritime domain.
