Young Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has lauded the significant role played by former India captain and current Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid in nurturing his cricketing career. Speaking to the media ahead of the Rajasthan Royals’ Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday, Jaiswal emphasized Dravid’s invaluable guidance and the confidence he instills in players.
Jaiswal highlighted Dravid’s composed demeanor and the wealth of knowledge he possesses, both on and off the field. “Having someone like Rahul Dravid, Sir, in this era is a privilege, and seeing him up close is an opportunity to learn—not just about cricket, but also about the way he carries himself off the field,” Jaiswal told JioHotstar.
The talented left-handed batsman, who has recorded scores of 1, 29, and 4 in the initial three matches of the IPL season, expressed his admiration for Dravid’s consistent grace and composure. “He has maintained such grace and composure over the years, and there is so much to absorb from him. I am truly excited to be here with him and look forward to enjoying this TATA IPL season alongside him,” Jaiswal added.
Jaiswal, who recently participated in the Ranji Trophy, emphasized the importance of adaptability across different formats, a lesson he has likely absorbed during his time with Dravid. He stated that his focus remains on understanding the team’s needs in any given situation and shaping his approach accordingly.
Rahul Dravid, a legendary figure in Indian cricket, has a long-standing reputation for mentoring young talent. Jaiswal’s testimonial further underscores Dravid’s impact on shaping the next generation of Indian cricketers, providing them with the right guidance and fostering their confidence on the big stage of the IPL.
