Northeast Chief Ministers Extend Strong Support for ‘Operation Sindoor’, Praise Army for Swift Retaliation
Northeast chief ministers have come together to applaud ‘Operation Sindoor’, the Indian armed forces’ recent cross-border strike on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7. The operation was in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to express his support, writing “जय हिन्द 🇮🇳 #OperationSindoor”. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma also voiced his solidarity, stating, “India remembers and India fights back. There is no room for terrorism. Jai Hind.”
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang commended the armed forces for their swift action, describing the mission as a testament to India’s unwavering resolve. He emphasized the importance of protecting the sovereignty of the nation and upholding the dignity of Indian mothers. “Their courage protects our sovereignty,” he said.
Former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh echoed similar sentiments, stating, “The wounds of Pahalgam still ache, but today, justice has begun to answer. Jai Hind!” Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also showed his support, writing simply: “भारत माता की जय 🇮🇳 #OperationSindoor.”
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha joined the chorus, declaring, “Jai Hind 🇮🇳 Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” The unified support from Northeast leaders highlights the political and emotional significance of ‘Operation Sindoor’, with bipartisan backing rallying behind the Indian armed forces’ decisive action.
