In a successful anti-drug campaign, police in the Kasba Kauka Para area of Damchara thana in North Tripura have arrested two individuals with a large quantity of drugs, including heroin and tablets. The suspects have been identified as Sanjeev Debbarma, son of the late Ajoy Debbarma, from whose house 33 grams of heroin powder and 800 tablets of yaba were recovered. The estimated market value of these drugs is around 15 lakh takas. During the operation, police also seized 3,74,500 takas in cash from the suspect’s house. Additionally, the suspect’s accomplice, Krishiram Ryang-Kew, was also apprehended at the scene.
According to the Damchara police station, a case has been filed under the NDPS Act in connection with this incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were involved in a major drug trafficking network. It is worth mentioning that the Tripura Police’s anti-drug campaign, focusing on creating a drug-free Tripura, remains ongoing. The cooperation and awareness of the public play a crucial role in combating such crimes.
This incident has caused a stir in the local community, and residents are urging the administration to increase surveillance in and around Kasba Kauka Para.
