The Director General of Police (DGP) for Tripura, Anurag, announced on Sunday, June 1 that the crime rate in the state has decreased by 10 per cent so far this year. Anurag, who was making his first visit to the South District after taking on the role of the top cop in Tripura, expressed his commitment to improving the overall performance of the Tripura Police.
Having previously served as the District Superintendent of Police in the South District in 1999, Anurag emphasized his familiarity with the area and stated that discussions would be held with officials to implement new priorities for the police force.
“Our main aim is to ensure that the public benefits from the services of the Tripura Police. This includes preventing crime, maintaining law and order, conducting thorough investigations, and ensuring that suspects are brought to justice,” Anurag said.
He also mentioned that the state government and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha have outlined priorities such as creating a drug-free Tripura, which will be a focus of discussions to improve the overall performance of the police force.
During the meeting in the South District, Superintendent of Police Mourya Krishna C, Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Majumder, as well as various Officer-in-Charges and Sub-Divisional Police Officers were present to discuss strategies for further reducing crime and enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement in Tripura.
