Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has embarked on a trip to Doha to attend the Earthna Summit 2025. The Chief Adviser, along with his entourage, boarded a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7pm.
According to Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, the purpose of the Chief Adviser’s visit to Qatar is to participate in a series of engagements on April 22 and April 23. The main highlight of his visit will be speaking at the Earthna Summit 2025.
During his stay in Qatar, Professor Yunus is scheduled to meet with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed. He will also engage with Qatar charity and Qatar Foundation, as well as give an interview to the Qatar-based Al Jazeera channel.
One of the key topics of discussion during the visit will be greater energy sector cooperation, particularly in light of Bangladesh’s long-term agreement with Qatar on LNG imports. Additionally, an investment summit is planned for April 23, where the Chief Adviser will address global stakeholders on the Rohingya issue.
Accompanying Professor Yunus on the trip are Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, and Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs Lamiya Morshed.
