Specialist doctors from the Agartala Government Medical College, in partnership with the All Tripura Government Doctors Association and the Chawmanu Social Health Centre, treated 413 patients across multiple departments during a Mega Health Camp cum Blood Donation Camp in the remote Longtarai Valley of Tripura’s Dhalai district on 6th June.
The event, aimed at improving healthcare access for remote communities, saw the participation of 13 specialist doctors offering services in medicine, pediatrics, surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, and dermatology. Free medicines were distributed to patients for post-consultation care.
Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, Deputy Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital and General Secretary of ATGDA, highlighted the success of the camp, stating, “This camp is a continuation of our commitment to take quality healthcare to the grassroots. We want to ensure that people living in far-flung villages like Chawmanu have access to the same level of medical expertise available in urban centers.”
In addition to medical consultations, a blood donation camp was held simultaneously to address the critical need for blood reserves in local healthcare facilities. Eighteen doctors and volunteers contributed to this effort, emphasizing the event’s humanitarian focus.
This Mega Health Camp at Chawmanu village is the third major health initiative in Tripura, following similar camps at the Manubazar and Takarjala Social Health Centres. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure equitable healthcare access across the state, with a focus on reaching underserved and remote populations.
Notable medical professionals involved in the camp included Dr. Kamal Das and Dr. Priyajyoti Chakma, among others, who showcased their expertise and services. Their collaborative efforts reflect a shared commitment within the medical community to improve healthcare accessibility in Tripura’s rural regions.
Overall, the Mega Health Camp marked a significant milestone for healthcare delivery in Tripura, demonstrating an ongoing dedication to providing comprehensive and accessible medical care for all residents, regardless of their geographical location.
