The Tripura BJP is set to elect a new state president on June 29, as officially declared on Friday. The selection process will involve an election, with results being announced on the same day.
Rajib Bhattacharya, who was appointed as the Tripura BJP President and lone Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament on August 25, 2022, will be replaced through this election. He took over from Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who held the position since 2020.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Bharatiya Janata Party and guidelines issued by the Central Election Authority, the election process for the post of President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Tripura Pradesh, has been officially announced. State Returning Officer Samarendra Ch. Deb will supervise the election process.
The detailed schedule for the election was included in the notification issued on June 27, with the publication of the state electoral college list scheduled for the same day. Nomination papers will be submitted on June 28, followed by scrutiny and withdrawal of nomination papers on the same day. The final list of nominees will also be declared on June 28.
If required, polling will take place on June 29, with the counting of votes and declaration of results also scheduled for the same day. This election is anticipated to play a crucial role in strengthening the BJP’s organizational structure and preparing for future political challenges.
