Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has revealed that the state government has allocated a substantial amount of Rs 834.45 crore towards social welfare pensions in the 2024-25 financial year. This move is set to benefit a total of 3.90 lakh individuals across the state. The increase in the pension amount to Rs 2,000 per month per beneficiary is a significant boost compared to the previous amount provided.
During a public event, Chief Minister Saha emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of all sections of society. He stated, “We have allocated Rs 834.45 crore to provide various social welfare pensions to 3.90 lakh individuals in 2024-25, with each person receiving Rs 2,000.” This move is aimed at ensuring a better quality of life for the beneficiaries.
In addition to the social welfare pensions, the state government has allocated Rs 7,000 crore for capital expenditure in the current fiscal year. Chief Minister Saha stressed the importance of investing in infrastructure development for the overall growth of the state. He noted, “If we do not invest in infrastructure development, the state will not be able to grow at the expected rate.”
Looking towards the future, Saha shared that Tripura is working towards a “developed Tripura by 2047” roadmap, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India. He highlighted that Tripura is the fifth state in the country and the first in the Northeast region to have such a comprehensive roadmap for development.
Furthermore, the state government has introduced new initiatives aimed at benefiting children, women, and weaker sections of society. As part of this, 11,130 mobile phones will be distributed to Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Anganwadi workers to enhance nutrition tracking through the ‘poshan’ app.
At the same event, Chief Minister Saha inaugurated 19 development projects, including new Anganwadi centers. This move underlines the government’s commitment to promoting social welfare and infrastructure growth across the state. The overall aim is to uplift the living standards of the people of Tripura and pave the way for a brighter future for all residents.
