Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha made a significant announcement today regarding the development of healthcare infrastructure in the state. He revealed that the government has identified a piece of land in Agartala for the establishment of Tripura’s first 100-bed Ophthalmology Institute.
In addition to this, Dr. Saha stated that efforts are underway to enhance the facilities at district hospitals by opening trauma care centers in all districts. He emphasized the government’s commitment to overall health sector development, highlighting the unprecedented progress made in the last 35 years. The successful completion of a kidney transplantation was mentioned as a notable achievement, with plans for further advancements in the near future. The Chief Minister also directed the increase of seat numbers at GB Pant and proposed the creation of a medical hub.
Furthermore, Dr. Saha shared that the state government is working towards the establishment of a tertiary Eye Hospital, with a 100-bed facility planned for Agartala. This initiative aims to provide advanced eye care services within Tripura, eliminating the need for residents to seek treatment outside the state.
The Chief Minister’s statements were made during the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony for various projects worth Rs 210 crore in the Amarpur sub-division of Gomati District. He highlighted the transformation of Tripura into a peaceful state, noting the surrender of insurgent groups like NLFT and ATTF, and the significant improvement in law and order. Dr. Saha acknowledged the lack of focus on tourism development under previous administrations and emphasized the current government’s efforts to promote inclusive growth under Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
Dr. Saha underscored the importance of tourism in Tripura, citing unique attractions such as Unakoti, Ujjayanta Palace, and Rudrasagar. He revealed plans to introduce tourism police and special executives to ensure the safety and security of tourists. The Chief Minister emphasized the desire for peace and stability in the region, highlighting the government’s commitment to empowering women and driving economic growth through tourism initiatives.
