The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved a budget of Rs 476 crore for the upcoming financial year of 2025-26, aiming to bring significant improvements to urban infrastructure and basic civic services in the capital city of Tripura.
Mayor and local MLA Dipak Majumder presented the budget on April 23, with a deficit of Rs 72.02 lakh, which has now been cleared after detailed discussions among AMC corporators and senior officials.
The budget focuses on addressing long-standing civic issues such as drainage, road conditions, street lighting, pond rejuvenation, and public amenities like open gyms. Mayor Majumder emphasized that the budget was a pro-people initiative that will greatly contribute to the city’s development.
Improving Agartala’s drainage system is a top priority, especially during the monsoon season. The AMC also plans to widen and repair roads, enhance street lighting, and develop recreational infrastructure by adding open gyms and restoring community ponds.
Mayor Majumder stated that coordination with the Public Works Department and the Urban Development Department will ensure efficient implementation of the budget, avoiding duplication and speeding up execution.
The budget reflects the corruption-free administration and visionary leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha, with the goal of visible progress and resolving issues faced by city residents. The AMC aims to make Agartala a clean, accessible, and livable city, addressing urgent needs like clean drinking water and improved drainage systems.
As urban challenges increase and the population grows, AMC officials are focused on delivering better services to the residents of Agartala. The new budget is expected to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life for all citizens across the city.
