Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recently chaired a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening border security and tackling illegal infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The meeting, which was held under the supervision of Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, brought together key officials including Director General of Police Anurag, Home Secretary Abhishek Singh, and the Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF).
During the meeting, officials discussed the ongoing security measures along the border and reviewed the progress made in preventing illegal infiltration, particularly from Rohingya refugees in neighbouring Bangladesh. Sources from the Chief Minister’s Office reported that intelligence and BSF sources have indicated a decline in the number of illegal infiltrators entering Tripura over the past three months.
Efforts to enhance coordination among security and intelligence agencies were also a key focus of the meeting. The State Government emphasized the importance of strict surveillance and swift action along the international border to prevent any breaches. The BSF, along with state police and other law enforcement agencies, have been actively working to apprehend and repatriate infiltrators.
Intelligence units are maintaining regular communication with BSF counterparts to strengthen the security grid. Chief Minister Dr. Saha reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the state’s borders and maintaining peace and security in the region.
The State Government is closely monitoring border areas and issues related to infiltration, and is determined to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of Tripura. The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on the importance of continued cooperation and coordination among all security agencies to effectively tackle illegal infiltration and maintain border security.
