Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has intervened as the search for 19-year-old Sneha Debnath, a student from Tripura who went missing in New Delhi, intensifies. Debnath, a resident of Sabroom in South Tripura district, disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the national capital.
The Tripura Chief Minister’s Office issued a statement on social media, confirming that necessary instructions have been given to the police to take immediate and appropriate action on the matter. The disappearance of Debnath prompted swift intervention from the CMO and an intensifying search operation led by Delhi Police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Sneha, a student at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University, last contacted her family on July 7. She informed her mother that she would be going to Sarai Rohilla Railway Station with a friend named Pitunia. However, her phone was found switched off by 8:45 a.m. that morning, and it was later confirmed that Pitunia did not meet Sneha as planned.
A cab driver traced by the family confirmed dropping Sneha near Delhi’s Signature Bridge, a location known for safety concerns and poor CCTV coverage. The lack of surveillance footage in the area has made it difficult for investigators to trace Sneha’s final movements.
Despite an extensive search conducted by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the NDRF near the Signature Bridge area, no concrete leads have been found. Family members are deeply concerned, noting that Sneha left without any belongings and has not withdrawn money from her bank account in the past four months.
Authorities have issued a public appeal for anyone with information about Sneha’s whereabouts to come forward. The case remains under active investigation, and efforts to locate Sneha continue to intensify. The Tripura Chief Minister’s intervention underscores the seriousness of the situation and the government’s commitment to finding the missing student.
