Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has unveiled ambitious plans to transform the state into a technological hub for the Northeast region by investing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G infrastructure. Speaking at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi, CM Saha announced a series of strategic initiatives aimed at boosting innovation, governance, and digital services through the establishment of new data centers and the implementation of progressive policies.
During a session titled “IT for Ashtalakshmi: Beyond the Bits and Bytes, Into AI and 5G,” CM Saha highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging AI and 5G technologies to drive digital transformation in Tripura and the surrounding states. He emphasized the potential for AI and 5G to revolutionize various sectors by enabling rapid communication and intelligent automation.
CM Saha announced that Tripura has allocated land in Agartala for the establishment of data centers, including one that will serve as a key hub for the eastern and northeastern regions of India. He expressed his vision of harnessing the power of AI and 5G to unlock the full potential of next-generation technologies across sectors and drive sector-wide innovations.
Proudly stating that Tripura has achieved widespread 5G connectivity covering all towns and 583 villages, CM Saha highlighted the state’s progressive policies such as the Information Technology Policy 2022 and the Data Center Policy 2021. He also mentioned a recent workshop on “AI for Good Governance” that showcased the transformative role AI can play in enhancing public service delivery.
Looking ahead, CM Saha emphasized the state’s commitment to continuing to embrace AI and 5G technologies to drive innovation across all departments. The government plans to roll out single-window digital platforms for citizen services and pilot AI projects tailored to meet department-specific needs.
“This is just the beginning. As Tripura paves the way, we envision a future where the entire Northeast thrives as a digitally empowered region,” CM Saha concluded, highlighting the state’s determination to lead the way in leveraging AI and 5G for the benefit of its citizens and the region as a whole.
