In preparation for the upcoming Diwali celebrations in 2025, the Tripura government has taken steps to ensure smooth travel for devotees visiting the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, Gomati district. Two special trains will be operated by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) from October 20 to October 22, 2025, to accommodate the festive rush.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury confirmed the announcement of the special trains, the Agartala–Sabroom–Agartala and Agartala–Dharmanagar–Agartala routes, aimed at providing convenient transportation for the thousands of pilgrims expected to visit the revered temple of the “Beautiful Mother of Tripura.”
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support, Minister Chowdhury emphasized the importance of the initiative in ensuring the comfort and ease of travel for pilgrims during the Diwali Festival at Mata Tripureshwari Temple.
The news of the special trains has been met with enthusiasm from devotees and locals alike, who believe that the move will not only alleviate congestion but also enhance religious tourism in the state during this significant celebration. This coordinated effort between the state and central governments is seen as a positive step towards improving travel infrastructure during major festivals in Tripura.
