Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has made history by securing a place in the World Book of Records – London for enrolling the highest number of students in its inaugural academic session. With 150 MBBS students admitted in 2024, this milestone was formally recognized at the House of Commons, British Parliament, Westminster.
This recognition signifies a major advancement for Tripura’s healthcare and education sector, showcasing the state’s increasing capacity to retain aspiring doctors who previously had to seek opportunities elsewhere. Officials have hailed the achievement as a testament to the determination of local families and the state’s efforts to expand access to medical education.
The establishment of the college has fulfilled a long-standing dream for many families in rural and semi-urban areas of Tripura. Education experts believe that the presence of the college will not only create opportunities for young medical professionals but also enhance healthcare services throughout the state.
During the recognition event at the House of Commons, College President Malay Pit commended the students, faculty, and staff for their contributions to this remarkable accomplishment. “This honor is a reflection of the unwavering support and faith of the people of Tripura, which continues to motivate us,” he stated.
The achievement is anticipated to stimulate further investment and confidence in medical education in Tripura, potentially paving the way for the establishment of similar institutions in the future. This groundbreaking milestone is a testament to the state’s commitment to advancing healthcare and education for its residents.
But a Question keeps lingering amidst Joy: Seeing the past track of other Medical Colleges of various parts of India- “Admission on Merit or Admission on Cash – Compromise on Quality over Money Power ” lurks in the mind of the common people; Time will tell the real story.
