Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) is gearing up to provide uninterrupted power supply across the state during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, according to Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
In a virtual meeting with TSECL officials, including the Managing Director, Director (Technical), General Managers of TPGL and TPTL, Deputy General Managers, and Senior Managers, Nath assured that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure a smooth power supply during the festive period.
Nath emphasized the importance of maintaining transformers, ensuring that vehicles and staff are prepared to provide prompt services, and having additional teams and agencies on standby. The Minister also highlighted the capacity of power generation in Tripura, mentioning that 60 MW is generated from Monarchak, 19 MW from Rukhia, and an additional 40 MW is reserved from Mizoram for the Puja celebrations.
Furthermore, Nath mentioned that all substations have been well-maintained, preventive measures are in place, and extra teams will be deployed at major puja pandals to handle any emergency situations that may arise.
Providing insight into recent electricity demand figures, the Minister stated that the peak demand on 1st September was 376 MW, while yesterday it stood at 320 MW. During the Durga Puja celebrations, the demand has ranged from 311 MW to 332 MW in the past three years, and this year it is expected to reach around 380 MW.
Nath also mentioned that 3,500 applications for temporary connections have been received, which will be processed by tomorrow. Special control rooms will be set up at both division and sub-division levels to ensure the smooth functioning of operations during the festival.
In conclusion, the Minister urged consumers to use electricity responsibly and assured that TSECL is fully prepared to maintain a seamless power supply throughout the Durga Puja celebrations.
