AGARTALA: In the run-up to the 35th Manipuri Language Day, members of the Manipuri community in Tripura organized a colorful cultural and awareness rally starting from the premises of Agartala Town Hall.
Participants dressed in traditional Manipuri attire joined the procession to mark the historic milestone of the language’s constitutional recognition and to promote the preservation of Manipuri heritage in the state.

- Vibrant Rally from Town Hall: The rally commenced outside Agartala Town Hall, traversing key thoroughfares of the capital city with colorful banners, traditional music, and cultural displays.
- Commemorating Language Recognition: The observance marks the historic inclusion of the Manipuri language (Meiteilon) in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution on August 20, 1992.
- Preservation of Cultural Identity: Community leaders highlighted the importance of promoting the Manipuri script (Meitei Mayek), preserving literature, and fostering language education among the younger generation in Tripura.
- Active Community Participation: Men, women, youth organizations, and prominent cultural figures from various Manipuri hamlets across West Tripura and nearby districts gathered in large numbers to demonstrate solidarity.
