The reopening of the Agartala-Guwahati railway line and the arrival of the fuel consignment in Tripura have brought much-needed relief to the state after weeks of disruption. The railway line had been severely affected by multiple landslides in the Lumding-Badarpur hill section, particularly between Jatinga Lumpur and New Haflong, due to heavy rainfall.
The restoration of the railway line was crucial for the smooth transportation of essential commodities, including fuel and food grains, to Tripura. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury had previously assured residents that there was enough food grain stock to meet the state’s needs despite the temporary fuel shortage.
With the resumption of limited train services on June 29 and full-scale operations starting on Monday, authorities have officially declared Tripura as “free from any kind of shortage.” The first empty goods train departed from New Harangajao, marking the reopening of the line and signaling a return to logistical normalcy.
Officials are optimistic that the resumption of rail services will ensure a steady flow of essential commodities, stabilize supply chains, and ease public concern after weeks of disruption. The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has played a crucial role in restoring the critical rail section and facilitating the transportation of goods to Tripura. The reopening of the railway line has been a significant development for the state, ensuring that fuel and other essential supplies can reach residents in a timely manner.
