A three-day training and workshop titled “Generative AI for Impact: Smart Tools for Smarter Governance” was organized by the Department of Economics and Statistics (DES) of the Tripura government at the Smart Training Hall in the Agartala IT building from July 14 to July 16, 2025.
The inauguration of this training workshop was done by Shri N.K. Santoshi, Director General (Central Statistics), Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MOSPI), Government of India, and Shri Abhishek Chandra, IAS, Special Secretary, Planning (Statistics) Department, Government of Tripura. Also present were Shri Anil Digambar Patil, Deputy Director, NSO (FOD), MOSPI, Agartala, Government of India.
More than 60 employees of Tripura DES and officials from MOSPI, Government of India, participated in this workshop. In his welcome address, Shri D. Riyaang, IAS, Director, highlighted the importance of Generative AI and encouraged participants to utilize this training for acquiring future-ready skills. Shri N.K. Santoshi, DG (Central Statistics), MoSPI, praised the efforts of Tripura DES in training their employees quickly and commended their leadership in digital adoption capabilities. He emphasized that Generative AI should not only be seen as a learning tool but also as a practical tool for everyday governance, urging officials to embrace this technology and set examples.
Dr. Reshmi Manna, a resource person, emphasized the practical application of AI tools and provided demonstrations of advanced technology for the participants. Sessions included examples of AI-based data analysis and predictive modeling using Python.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Honorable Minister of Planning (Statistics) Department, Government of Tripura, Shri Bikash Debbarma. He shed light on the significant role of Generative AI in the field of statistics and congratulated the department for embracing modern technology. The Minister encouraged participants to enhance their skills through continuous learning to become pioneers in digital transformation in their respective fields.
