In a significant development for the state of Tripura, four major railway stations have been identified for modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Project. Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb shared this information, stating that the stations in Agartala, Dharmanagar, Kumarghat, and Udaipur have been included in this initiative.
Deb revealed that work has already begun at two of the stations, with the remaining two soon to follow. He mentioned that Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the inclusion of these stations in response to a question raised by him in Parliament.
Speaking about the government’s prioritization of rail infrastructure, Deb stated, “In the long-term plan, the modernization of railway stations, improved services, and passenger comfort have been given priority. The pace of development in this sector has significantly increased under the Modi-led Central Government compared to the previous UPA Government.”
He further elaborated on the progress of work at the selected stations. At Agartala Railway Station, lift work has been completed, while a 12-meter foot over bridge and a new station building are under construction. In Dharmanagar Railway Station in North District, platform shelter, approach road, and boundary wall have been completed, with work on the circulating area, a 12-meter footbridge, and an escalator currently in progress.
This initiative is expected to not only enhance the infrastructure and facilities at these railway stations but also improve the overall travel experience for passengers in Tripura. With the government’s focus on modernization and development, these projects are a step towards transforming the state’s railway network.
