Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb has accused the Trinamool Congress of crushing democracy in West Bengal with the support of miscreants. Deb, who is also the BJP’s election co-incharge for West Bengal, made these allegations after visiting BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh, who were reportedly attacked by miscreants backed by the Trinamool Congress.
In a Facebook post, Deb stated, “BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh were attacked by Trinamool-backed miscreants while they were assisting flood-affected people in North Bengal. Today, I met both of them and inquired about their health condition.”
Deb went on to criticize West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that she has lost public trust and is resorting to undemocratic tactics to hold onto power. He accused Banerjee of transforming the government system into a party system and using tactics such as jungle raj, terror, and bloodshed to maintain control.
According to Deb, “every day, a new scandalous chapter is being written under the rule of the heartless Mamata Banerjee.” He believes that Banerjee, realizing that she is losing support from the people, is using miscreants supported by the Trinamool Congress to crush democracy in the state.
The situation in West Bengal continues to be tense, with political parties trading accusations and tensions rising ahead of the upcoming elections. The BJP and Trinamool Congress have been at loggerheads, with both parties trying to assert their dominance in the state.
As the political landscape in West Bengal heats up, it remains to be seen how the situation will evolve and whether democracy will prevail in the face of such allegations and tensions.
