In a groundbreaking move that could reshape the political landscape of India’s North East region, key leaders have come together to announce the formation of a “United Singular Political Entity” aimed at ensuring a unified and powerful voice for the region in national politics.
The initiative, titled “ONE NORTH EAST,” was unveiled in a joint statement signed by prominent figures such as Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya, former BJP national spokesperson Mmhonlumo Kikon, and People’s Party Assam founder Daniel Langthasa.
This collective effort seeks to transcend traditional party lines and bring together regional aspirations under one common political platform. The leaders, often referred to as “the younger generation of North East,” emphasized the need to move beyond fragmented political narratives and unite to address the common issues and concerns faced by the people of the region.
“The strength of our region lies in unity. It is time for us to speak with one collective voice and ensure that the people of the North East are heard, respected, and represented at the national level,” the joint statement declared.
The leaders recognized the legacy of past leaders who fought tirelessly for the dignity and identity of the North East and expressed their commitment to continuing this legacy through the formation of the new political entity. They announced the establishment of a committee to work on the details of the entity’s structure, modalities, and future roadmap.
Describing this initiative as the “first step” in a larger journey towards a stronger and more united North East, the leaders pledged to work together to build a more cohesive and influential political presence for the region on the national stage.
The formation of this United Singular Political Entity marks a significant milestone in the political history of the North East and has the potential to bring about a new era of collaboration and solidarity among the diverse states of the region.
