Agartala, Tripura: The Tripura Indigenous Students Federation (TISF) organised a candlelight march in Agartala to protest the brutal killing of Tripura student Angel Chakma in Dehradun.
The candlelight procession began from Astabal Maidan in Agartala, where students, youth members, and supporters gathered to express grief and anger over the incident. Holding candles and placards, participants demanded justice for the deceased and raised slogans calling for the safety and protection of students from Tripura and the Northeast studying outside the state.
Addressing the gathering, TISF leaders condemned the killing and described it as a grave violation of human rights and student safety. They urged the authorities to ensure a fair and speedy investigation, strict punishment for those responsible, and concrete measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The organisers also appealed to the central and state governments to take serious steps to safeguard indigenous and Northeast students living and studying in other parts of the country. The candlelight march concluded peacefully under police supervision.
