AGARTALA: On the occasion of its 77th Foundation Day, the Tripura Law Clerks’ Association organized a formal press conference at the Agartala Press Club yesterday. Senior officials of the association gathered to reflect on the organization’s long-standing history and to highlight the vital role law clerks play as the “backbone” of the state’s judicial administrative system.
The event served as both a celebration of nearly eight decades of service and a platform to address the current professional challenges faced by law clerks across the state’s various courts.
A Legacy of Service
Since its inception, the association has been instrumental in bridging the gap between the judiciary, advocates, and the general public. During the briefing, officials paid tribute to the founding members who established the collective in the post-independence era.
Key Highlights of the Briefing:
- 77 Years of Advocacy: The leadership detailed the association’s journey in securing legal recognition and welfare benefits for clerks in Tripura.
- Organizational Unity: Representatives from various district and subdivisional units attended, showcasing a unified front regarding the welfare of their members.
- Service to the Public: The association emphasized that law clerks often act as the first point of contact for litigants, ensuring that documentation and procedural requirements are met accurately.
Addressing Professional Grievances
While the mood was celebratory, the leadership also used the opportunity to draw the government’s attention to several pending demands aimed at improving the working conditions of law clerks.
”As we enter our 77th year, we remain committed to our duty within the temples of justice. However, the modernization of courts requires that our members be provided with better social security and updated training facilities. We have been an integral part of the judicial process for decades, and we urge the authorities to consider our long-standing welfare proposals,” a senior official of the association stated during the press meet.
Upcoming Commemorative Events
To mark the 77-year milestone, the association announced a series of statewide programs:
- Blood Donation Camps: Organized across different court complexes to give back to the community.
- Legal Awareness Workshops: Aimed at junior clerks to familiarize them with digital filing systems and the latest judicial protocols.
- Felicitation Ceremony: Honoring veteran law clerks who have dedicated over 40 years to the legal profession.
The press conference concluded with a vote of thanks, as the officials reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining the integrity of the legal support system in Tripura.
