Agartala, Tripura: On the occasion of its 72nd Foundation Day, the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) organised a student rally and public meeting on Monday with the call to protect education, culture, and human values.
As part of the programme, students first gathered in front of City Centre, Agartala, from where a procession was taken out. The rally passed through various parts of the city before culminating in a student assembly held at the Agartala Press Club. Participants raised slogans highlighting the need to safeguard public education and resist what they described as policies harming the education system.
Following the rally, a delegation of AIDSO representatives submitted a joint memorandum signed by 10,000 people to the Education Minister and Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha. The memorandum urged the government to take immediate steps to protect government-run educational institutions and ensure equitable, quality education for all.
Addressing the gathering, AIDSO leaders stated that the organisation has been consistently fighting to uphold the values of education, culture, and humanity since its inception. They stressed that student unity and public participation are essential to defend democratic rights in education.
The programme concluded peacefully, with organisers reiterating their resolve to continue the movement until concrete measures are taken to safeguard public education in the state.
