Agartala, Tripura: TET-qualified candidates staged a protest on Monday demanding simultaneous recruitment of all candidates who have passed the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). As part of their agitation, the protesters gheraoed the Education Bhavan in Agartala.
According to the protesters, despite repeated appeals, they did not receive any clear response from the Education Department regarding their long-pending demand. Frustrated by the lack of assurance, the TET-qualified candidates then began marching towards the official residence of the Chief Minister, Manik Saha, to press for immediate intervention.
However, before reaching the Chief Minister’s residence, the procession was stopped midway by the West Police Station. Police personnel blocked the route and prevented the protesters from moving further, citing law and order concerns.
The situation led to tension in the area for a brief period, though no untoward incident was reported. The protesting candidates reiterated that their movement would continue until the government provides a concrete roadmap for the recruitment of all TET-qualified candidates.
Police officials stated that adequate security arrangements were in place and urged the protesters to maintain peace while pursuing their demands through lawful means.
