Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Hon’ble Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep anguish over the brutal murder of North East student Angel Chakma, who was studying in Dehradun, calling the incident “extremely painful and distressing.”
In his official statement, the Chief Minister said the incident was not just the loss of a young student’s life but the tragic end of a family’s dreams and hopes. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength for them to endure the immense grief.
CM Dhami stated that he personally spoke to Angel Chakma’s father and expressed condolences on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand. He assured him that all those responsible for the murder would be arrested at the earliest and brought to justice.
Emphasising the government’s stand, the Chief Minister said that maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens remains the highest priority of the Uttarakhand Government. He added that in this serious case, the police have acted promptly, sensitively, and firmly. Most of the accused have already been arrested, and continuous efforts are underway to apprehend the main absconding accused.
“The guilty will not be spared under any circumstances and will be given the strictest punishment as per law,” the Chief Minister asserted.
He further stated that Uttarakhand is a peaceful, inclusive, and harmonious state where students from every part of the country should feel safe. He described the safety of students from the North East and other states as a collective responsibility and said concrete steps are being taken to strengthen their security.
Concluding his statement, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said the Uttarakhand Government stands firmly with the victim’s family with full sensitivity and determination and is completely committed to ensuring justice in this deeply tragic case.
