Agartala, Tripura: For the first time, a yoga competition at the school level was organised as part of the 69th National School Games for Under-17 boys, under the initiative of the Tripura School Sports Board.
The competition was formally inaugurated on Saturday at the NSRCC Complex, Agartala, by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Manik Saha. The inaugural programme was also attended by the State Sports Minister Tinku Roy, along with other dignitaries, sports officials, and participants.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of yoga in building physical fitness, mental discipline, and overall well-being among students. He said the inclusion of yoga in the National School Games marks a significant step towards promoting holistic development and traditional Indian practices among the youth.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from young athletes representing different states, creating an atmosphere of discipline, focus, and sporting spirit. Officials stated that the introduction of yoga at the school level aims to encourage healthy lifestyles and integrate wellness-oriented sports into mainstream competitive platforms.
The competition will continue over the coming days as part of the broader National School Games schedule.
