Agartala: A person identified as Shahjahan Islam has been arrested on charges of making objectionable and derogatory remarks on social media against Tripura Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha, along with allegations of forgery of signatures.
Providing details to the media, SDPO Debaprasad Roy said the arrest was made following a thorough investigation based on complaints and digital evidence. He stated that the accused had allegedly used social media platforms to post offensive content targeting the Chief Minister and was also involved in forging signatures, which constitutes serious criminal offences.
The police officer added that legal action has been initiated under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused was involved in any other similar activities. The accused will be produced before the court as per procedure.
Police have cautioned citizens against misuse of social media platforms and reiterated that spreading offensive content or indulging in forgery will invite strict legal action.
