AGARTALA: The state capital is all set to witness a global confluence of commerce and culture as the 11th International Universal Expo 2026 is scheduled to commence at the Agartala Children’s Park. In a press conference held on Monday by the organizing committee, it was officially announced that the fair will run from January 9th to January 26th, 2026.
The expo, which has become a hallmark event for Tripura’s shoppers and business enthusiasts, promises to be larger this year. According to the organizers, approximately 250 stalls will be set up, representing various states across India and several foreign nations.
Key Highlights of the Expo:
- Duration: January 9 – January 26, 2026.
- Venue: Children’s Park, Agartala, West Tripura.
- Participants: National and international vendors with over 250 diverse stalls.
- Exhibits: Handloom, handicrafts, jewelry, dry fruits, cosmetics, and lifestyle products.
Global Participation and Local Impact
The organizers highlighted that the expo serves as a vital platform for cultural exchange and economic activity. International participants from countries such as Thailand, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Dubai are expected to bring unique products—including Turkish lamps, Afghan dry fruits, and Thai jewelry—which are traditionally the major attractions for local visitors.
The All Tripura Merchant Association, in collaboration with Universal Advertising, emphasized that the event is designed to boost local entrepreneurship by allowing small-scale manufacturers from Tripura to interact with international exhibitors. “Our goal is to provide a world-class shopping experience to the people of Tripura while creating a robust market chain for our local artisans,” stated one of the lead organizers during the media briefing.
The fair will be open to the public daily, and the authorities have assured that necessary security and safety measures are being finalized to handle the anticipated heavy footfall during the 18-day event.
