In a landmark move to accelerate the state’s technological and entrepreneurial landscape, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha officially launched the State Innovation Mission (SIM) today. The grand launch took place at the International Exhibition Centre in Hapania, Agartala, amidst a large gathering of young innovators, entrepreneurs, students, and technology experts.
The mission aims to foster a culture of creative thinking and provide a robust ecosystem for startups to scale their ideas into viable businesses.
Empowering the Youth through Innovation
During his keynote address, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized that the “New Tripura” is transitioning from being job-seekers to job-creators. He highlighted that the State Innovation Mission will act as a bridge between traditional knowledge and modern technology.
Key Objectives of the State Innovation Mission:
- Innovation Fund: Establishment of a dedicated fund to provide seed capital and grants to promising local startups.
- Incubation Centers: Setting up state-of-the-art incubation hubs across major districts to provide mentorship and technical support.
- School & College Outreach: Launching “Innovation Labs” in educational institutions to catch talent young.
- Solving Local Challenges: Encouraging innovators to find tech-driven solutions for Tripura’s specific sectors like Rubber, Bamboo, Agriculture, and Tourism.

The Chief Minister noted that the state has immense untapped potential in its youth.
”The State Innovation Mission is not just a policy; it is a commitment to the dreams of our youth. We want our students to think out of the box. Whether it is Agri-tech or IT, the government will stand by every innovator who wants to contribute to the state’s economy,” Dr. Saha stated.
Interactive Exhibition and Tech-Showcase
Following the launch, the Chief Minister toured the exhibition stalls where young inventors from various colleges and polytechnics displayed their prototypes. From AI-based agricultural monitoring tools to eco-friendly bamboo-based electronic accessories, the exhibition showcased the creative prowess of Tripura’s talent.
The event was also attended by senior cabinet ministers, the Chief Secretary, and representatives from national industrial bodies who expressed their interest in partnering with the mission for future projects.
