AGARTALA: Reinforcing the state’s ongoing health security and voluntary humanitarian drives, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha formally attended and inaugurated a mega blood donation camp today morning in the capital city. The camp was organized under the banner of the prominent local socio-cultural organization, the Ramkrishna Club, located at Ramnagar Road No. 3.
The event, which commenced scheduled at 10:30 AM, drew a heavy gathering of local youth, club members, sports enthusiasts, and medical officers from the state health directorate.
A Proactive Push to Strengthen State Blood Banks
The voluntary camp was organized to replenish the seasonal inventory storage cells across major government blood banks in Agartala, particularly supporting the emergency reserves of the GBP and IGM hospitals during the high-demand summer months.
Key Highlights of the Event:
- High Youth Turnout: More than 50 active members of the Ramkrishna Club, including several first-time donors and women athletes, voluntarily donated blood units.
- Advanced Clinical Setup: A specialized mobile medical team from the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) supervised the collection, ensuring strict safety protocols, sterilized kit usage, and post-donation health checks.
- Community Recognition: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha personally handed over formal appreciation certificates and donor badges to the young participants on the spot.
“Blood Donation is the Highest Form of Social Service”: CM Dr. Manik Saha
Addressing the gathering of club executives and donors, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha—himself a veteran medical professional—praised the club’s administrative panel for channeling youth energy into vital healthcare support systems.
”I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the members of the Ramnagar Ramkrishna Club for organizing this high-priority camp today. Blood cannot be manufactured in a factory; it can only come from one human being saving another. Therefore, voluntary blood donation is truly the highest, most selfless form of social service.
Our government is working continuously to upgrade the technical storage infrastructure across all district blood banks. However, infrastructure alone is useless without a steady flow of voluntary donors. I am deeply encouraged to see so many young faces standing in line today. I appeal to all youth clubs, social groups, and NGOs across Tripura to take inspiration from this event and host regular block-level donation drives to ensure that no patient ever faces a crisis due to stock shortages,” Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced during his address.
Club Panel Affirms Continued Civic Commitment
The executive managing committee of the Ramnagar Ramkrishna Club thanked the Chief Minister for his presence, stating that his participation serves as a massive motivational boost for local grassroots workers.
Senior health officials present at the venue noted that the successful collection of these screened, high-quality blood units will immediately aid local thalassemia patients, emergency accident wards, and complicated surgical operations scheduled over the coming weeks across the West Tripura district.
