AGARTALA: In anticipation of the high-profile visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state capital, the Tripura Police administration alongside central security agencies conducted a full-scale convoy security trial run today.
The security drill was executed along the designated VVIP route stretching from the Circuit House complex to the Lichubagan area, a critical traffic corridor in the city.
To ensure an absolutely glitch-free movement for the Union Minister’s upcoming itinerary, the traffic directorate completely suspended all public and commercial vehicle movements along this specific stretch while the trial run was underway.
Precision Logistics: Tight Security Blanket Over the Capital
The trial run was organized to map out exact transit timings, identify potential security bottlenecks, and test the real-time coordination between the advance security liaison (ASL) teams, local police pilots, and bulletproof tactical vehicles.
Key Technical Elements of the Security Drill:
- Temporary Route Lockdown: The entire road perimeter connecting the Circuit House to Lichubagan was temporarily barricaded, with traffic police personnel diverting regular city commuters to alternative bypass lanes.
- Real-Time Speed Synchronization: A motorcade consisting of dummy VVIP SUVs, jammer vehicles, emergency medical ambulances, and quick response team (QRT) police vans moved in a strict, high-speed formation to measure travel efficiency.
- Strategic Deployment: Heavy deployments of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and specialized security cells were stationed at every major intersection, alleyway mouth, and high-rise vantage point along the route.
Administration Requests Public Cooperation During VVIP Movement
Senior administrative officials noted that such elaborate trial drills are a mandatory component of the standard operating procedures (SOP) laid out by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for Z-plus category protectees.
The traffic department has urged citizens to cooperate with on-duty personnel and plan their daily commutes in advance, as intermittent route closures and strict parking restrictions are expected to remain in place across key parts of Agartala over the next 48 hours to ensure absolute safety during the Union Home Minister’s stay.
