AGARTALA | June 8, 2026: In a sharp and embarrassing escalation of labor resentment against the ruling administration, the All Tripura School Computer Teachers’ Association, backed heavily by the Tripura Thika Mazdoor Sangh, staged a massive human chain demonstration in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Circuit House on Monday.
Protesters launched a scathing critique of the Dr. Manik Saha-led BJP government, accusing it of systemic betrayal. They pointed out that despite the Bharatiya Janata Party holding power at both the Center and the State (double-engine government), the genuine grievances and service regularisation demands of school computer teachers are being completely ignored in Tripura.
”Why Can Assam Fulfill Demands, But Not Manik Saha’s Government?”
The agitating teachers and union leaders drew sharp comparisons with other BJP-ruled states, specifically neighboring Assam, to highlight the local administration’s apathy.
”If the Assam state government can successfully fulfill the long-standing demands and secure the future of their school computer teachers, why is Dr. Manik Saha’s government continuously failing to do so here in Tripura? This raises a massive question mark on their administrative intent,” a senior union leader questioned during the protest.
Union representatives stated that Monday’s human chain was merely a “trailer” and a symbolic glimpse of public anger. They warned that if the state government fails to take concrete steps immediately, the community will launch a massive, state-wide agitation that could paralyze the academic infrastructure.
Ministers’ Wealth Surges While Common Employees Face Financial Doom
The protest also saw the Tripura Thika Mazdoor Sangh—an organization operating within the government’s broader labor framework—openly criticizing the ruling political class from the ground. The demonstration has sparked serious questions among the general public regarding the state’s welfare claims.
| Core Grievances Highlighted In The Agitation | Public and Employee Sentiment |
|---|---|
| Comparative Neglect | Assam’s BJP government resolved computer teachers’ issues, but Tripura remains indifferent. |
| Growing Economic Disparity | Protesters allege leaders’ and ministers’ assets grow daily, while ordinary contract workers face inflation. |
| Silent Leadership | Key ministers and administrative heads allegedly turn a blind eye to public and employee distress. |
| Threat of Mass Movement | Monday’s human chain was a warning; a larger state-wide shutdown is on the horizon. |
Protesters openly alleged that while the wealth, salaries, and allowances of ministers and political leaders are swelling exponentially day by day, the common contract employees and teachers are left with absolutely nothing, struggling to survive on meager wages.
The human chain has left the public wondering whether this open rebellion from within the state’s labor factions will finally open the eyes and ears of the administration, or if the government will continue to ignore the growing unrest among its foundational workforce.
