AGARTALA: In a major push toward transforming the capital into a high-tech smart city, environmental organization Glow Green hosted a dynamic climate and sanitation awareness event outside the historic Ujjayanta Palace on Sunday to celebrate World Environment Day.
The landmark gathering was graced by Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder as the Chief Guest, alongside AMC Corporator Ratna Datta, South Zone Chairman Pradip Chandra, and a host of prominent environmental scientists and urban planners.
The central highlight of the event was the unveiling of Glow Green’s highly ambitious, technology-driven waste management framework designed to completely eliminate garbage piles from Agartala’s streets using real-time satellite tracking.
A 10-Minute Rapid Response Garbage Cleanup Blueprint
Moving away from conventional manual sanitation routines, Glow Green executives detailed a cutting-edge civic design that integrates advanced telemetry into daily urban cleaning operations.
Key Technical Initiatives Announced by Glow Green:
- GPS/GPRS-Based Monitoring: The organization is deploying an automated, satellite-linked tracking matrix. If trash accumulates or overflows at any public kiosk, the system automatically tags the location via GPRS and alerts the nearest municipal cleaning mobile unit.
- The 10-Minute Response Target: Once a garbage cluster is flagged by the central monitoring grid, rapid-response teams will be dispatched to clear the site completely within an explicit 10-minute window.
- Specialized Plastic Reverse-Vending Bins: To systematically combat plastic pollution, specialized custom bins will be installed across high-traffic heritage sites, commercial zones, and markets specifically for the segregation and disposal of plastic bottles and polymers.
“Technology is the Ultimate Weapon Against Urban Pollution”: Mayor Dipak Majumder
Applauding the tech-driven model, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder stated that integrating digital tracking into public health services is exactly what Agartala needs to achieve top rankings in national cleanliness indices.
”To make Agartala truly liveable, we must replace outdated manual supervision with modern, automated technology. This highly innovative GPS/GPRS tracking model proposed by Glow Green is a game-changer for our municipal administration. A system that detects littering automatically and ensures its removal within 10 minutes will completely change the face of our capital city.
The Agartala Municipal Corporation will extend its full structural and administrative cooperation to implement this tech framework successfully. However, technology can only do so much without civic discipline. I urge every resident to responsibly use the newly installed plastic segregation bins. By combining state-of-the-art technology with active citizen participation, we can proudly establish Agartala as a premier, plastic-free green destination,” Mayor Dipak Majumder stated to the media assembly outside the palace gates.
Pioneering Citizen-Tech Synergy for Climate Action
The event concluded with an interactive demonstration of the tracking software for the dignitaries and public onlookers. Glow Green volunteers distributed eco-friendly cloth bags and plant saplings to visitors, reiterating that the upcoming monsoon phase will see the mass deployment of these smart bins across all urban blocks, reinforcing Tripura’s ongoing commitment to sustainable climate adaptation.
