SANTINIKETAN | June 11, 2026: Sensation prevailed across the twin townships of Bolpur and Santiniketan after the body of a 22-year-old female employee was recovered from the high-security campus of the private Santiniketan Medical College, founded by industrialist Malay Pith.
The deceased has been identified as Manisha Das (22), a resident of the Madhuban area. Manisha was actively employed at the medical institution and was serving as the warden of the girls’ hostel inside the college campus. According to institutional sources, the grim discovery was made late Wednesday night, triggering immediate chaos on the premises.
Late-Night Discovery Triggers Panic inside Girls’ Hostel
The horrific incident came to light during the deep hours of Wednesday night when fellow hostel staff and students noticed a lack of response from the warden’s room. Upon entering, her unresponsive body was discovered under mysterious circumstances.
The college management immediately informed the local police administration, who rushed a team to the spot, cordoned off the area, and sent the body for an immediate post-mortem examination.
”It is a Calculated Murder”: Family Points Fingers at Foul Play
The tragic news has sent shockwaves through Manisha’s native village in Madhuban. Refusing to accept the narrative of a natural death or suicide, her grief-stricken family members have openly alleged foul play, claiming that Manisha was brutally murdered inside the facility.
”Our daughter went there to perform her professional duties, not to return in a body bag. There are clear indicators of foul play, and we firmly believe she was murdered inside the medical college campus. We demand an impartial, transparent police investigation and the immediate arrest of the perpetrators behind this heinous crime,” an emotional family member stated to reporters.
Local police authorities have registered a case of unnatural death for the time being and have begun questioning fellow hostel boarders, security guards, and administrative staff who were on duty during the night shift. Investigators are also thoroughly scanning the digital video recorder (DVR) logs of the campus CCTV networks to trace any unauthorized movements inside the residential wings, stating that the precise cause of death will be officially established once the detailed autopsy report is made public.
