AGARTALA | June 21, 2026: In response to the continuous call for strengthening the emergency blood reserves in state-run healthcare institutions, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized today under the direct initiative of Ward No. 39 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). The humanitarian drive witnessed spontaneous participation from local youth, social workers, and residents of the ward.
The social welfare event was graced by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, who attended as the Chief Guest. Joining him on the platform were the Honorable Mayor of AMC and MLA, Shri Dipak Majumder, alongside local ward councillors, senior municipal officials, and prominent community leaders.
Political Leadership Applauds Ward-Level Civic Initiatives
The donation venue was charged with enthusiasm as a large number of first-time and regular donors queued up from the early hours of the morning. While inspecting the camp and interacting with the donors, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highly commended the municipal committee of Ward 39 for organizing such a critical life-saving drive at the community level.
”Blood donation is one of the highest forms of service to society because it directly saves human lives during medical crises. I am deeply pleased to see the leadership of AMC Ward 39 and our local citizens step forward with such enthusiasm. Our government is constantly upgrading blood storage facilities, but the success of these systems relies entirely on the selflessness of voluntary donors. I urge all civic bodies and clubs to continue hosting such regular camps,” Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated during his address.
Overwhelming Response Strengthens State Blood Bank
The medical team supervising the process successfully collected a significant volume of blood units, which were carefully cataloged and transferred to the central state hospital inventory.
The successful implementation of the drive highlighted several key community achievements:
- Grassroots Mobilization: Encouraging local booth-level workers and women’s self-help groups to act as key motivators for voluntary donation.
- Civic Responsibility: Setting a robust example for other municipal wards across the capital city to integrate health welfare drives into their annual activity schedules.
- Donor Recognition: Certificates of appreciation and institutional tokens were handed out to all participants by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Mayor Dipak Majumder to acknowledge their contribution.
