AGARTALA | June 21, 2026: In a bid to address the escalating challenges of unemployment, educational commercialization, and the evolving socio-economic landscape, a high-level seminar titled “Tarunder Bhabishyat: Sankat O Sambhabana” (The Future of Youth: Crises and Opportunities) was organized today. The conventional debate took place at the prestigious Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhavan complex in Agartala.
The event was spearheaded by the left-wing student and youth leadership, drawing significant participation from university scholars, job aspirants, and young activists from across the state.
National Leadership Flags Institutional Crises
The assembly featured a powerful line-up of national and regional speakers. Delivering the keynote address, the All-India General Secretary of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Srijan Bhattacharya, launched a scathing attack on central and state policies, accusing them of systematically squeezing public sector employment and reducing budgetary allocations for higher education.
Sharing the platform, SFI West Bengal State Secretary Debanjan Dey extended regional solidarity, drawing structural parallels between the socio-economic crises faced by the youth in West Bengal and Tripura.
”The contemporary Indian youth is trapped between deep systemic crises and shrinking democratic spaces. From paper leaks in national competitive exams to the absolute stagnation of permanent industrial hiring, the structural framework is failing our graduates. This seminar at Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhavan is not just for discussing crises; it is a platform to organize the youth to demand their constitutional right to affordable education and dignified employment,” SFI All-India Secretary Srijan Bhattacharya asserted.
Key Discussion Vectors Framed at the Meet
The seminar panellists systematically unpacked the dual themes of current systemic crises and prospective grassroots solutions:
- The Unemployment Crisis: Highlighting the urgent need for transparent, time-bound recruitment calendars for state government departments and the eradication of corruption in selection boards.
- Technological Disruptions: Analyzing how rapid digitalization and artificial intelligence are altering traditional job structures, necessitating immediate, affordable skill-upgradation modules for rural students.
- The Path Forward: Urging young student collectives to move past despair, build cross-border intellectual networks, and actively participate in civic and socio-political policy assessments.
Senior regional leadership panels, including veteran student union members and local educators, also addressed the floor. The open-house interactive session allowed attending youth to raise direct queries regarding career counseling gaps and regional migration challenges.
