The city of Agartala is gearing up for a spectacular cultural event as the Tripura government prepares to host the fourth edition of the Mayer Gamon Carnival on Saturday. This carnival will feature a grand procession of Durga idols from the state’s leading puja committees, promising a visual feast for all attendees.
Chief Minister Manik Saha is set to inaugurate the event, which is expected to see participation from around 40 community puja committees. Joining him will be his cabinet colleagues, MLAs, and other elected representatives, all coming together to celebrate this annual extravaganza.
Director of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA), Bimbisar Bhattacharya, shared that the carnival will not only include processions showcasing puja themes but also feature cultural programs that highlight the rich heritage and traditions of Tripura. A panel of judges from various fields will evaluate the performances, with the top three puja committees receiving cash awards, trophies, and citations as recognition for their efforts.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder has been overseeing the preparations at the venue, ensuring everything is in place for the smooth conduct of the event. The city is abuzz with excitement as residents eagerly await the festivities that are set to unfold.
In addition to the Mayer Gamon Carnival, the government has also planned another major cultural event, Sarad Samman, on October 11. This program will honor 43 clubs from across Tripura for their successful organization of Durga Puja celebrations, further showcasing the vibrancy and richness of the state’s cultural landscape.
Overall, these events are not only a celebration of the festive season but also a reflection of the unity and cultural diversity that defines Tripura. The city of Agartala is all set to come alive with colors, music, and traditions as it plays host to these grand cultural spectacles.
