AGARTALA: Marking the 119th martyrdom day of one of India’s youngest revolutionary freedom fighters, the Shaheed Khudiram Bose Smriti Raksha Committee organized a solemn morning procession (Prabhat Pheri) and tribute ceremony in front of the historic Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala on Tuesday.
Members of the memorial committee, social activists, and youth gathered in large numbers to offer floral wreaths and pay rich tributes at the statue of Shaheed Khudiram Bose situated at the main entrance premises of Ujjayanta Palace.
Key Highlights of the Observance
- Swaraj Procession (Prabhat Pheri): The early morning rally commenced from the Ujjayanta Palace premises, with participants carrying national flags and singing patriotic songs to honor the immortal sacrifice of the teenage martyr.
- Floral Tributes: Committee leadership and attendees laid garlands at the martyr’s statue, recalling his heroic defiance against British colonial rule.
- Call to Youth: Speakers emphasized passing down Khudiram Bose’s legacy of courage, patriotism, and selfless sacrifice to the younger generation.
- Historical Significance: Executed on August 11, 1908, at the age of 18 following the Muzaffarpur Case, Shaheed Khudiram Bose remains a monumental symbol of youth-led resistance in India’s freedom movement.
