AGARTALA: Demanding immediate relief from escalating essential prices, unemployment, and deteriorating law and order, the Communist Party of India (CPI) Tripura State Council staged a massive 3-hour mass sit-in demonstration (Gana-Obosthan) near the Circuit House area in Agartala on Tuesday.
A large contingent of party workers and supporters assembled with red flags and banners, raising slogans against the policies of the BJP-led state government.

Addressing media personnel during the demonstration, Milan Baidya, Secretary of the CPI Tripura State Council, highlighted the key charter of demands:
- 18-Point Charter of Demands: The agitation focused on urgent public welfare issues, including curbing the skyrocketing prices of daily essentials, ensuring work and fair wages under MGNREGA, restoring democratic rights, and stopping political violence in the state.
- Public Distress & Government Inaction: CPI leaders emphasized that common citizens, workers, and rural laborers are reeling under severe economic hardship while the administration remains indifferent.
- Call for Broader Movement: Party leadership warned that if the state administration fails to address the 18-point charter, CPI will launch intensive grassroots movements across districts in the coming days.
