AGARTALA | AUGUST 25, 2026: Addressing pressing structural and administrative issues within the state’s education sector, the Post Office Chowmuhani Unit of the All Tripura Teachers’ Association (ATTA) submitted a formal memorandum to the Director of Secondary Education in Agartala.
The delegation urged the education department to initiate immediate interventions to address severe teacher shortages, safeguard teacher pay structures, and eliminate political interference in school administration.
Core Demands Outlined in the Memorandum
- Resolving Teacher Shortages: ATTA demanded the immediate recruitment of qualified educators to fill widespread vacant teaching positions across government schools, ensuring uninterrupted academic instruction for students.
- TET Issues & Service Regularization: The association pressed for resolving long-pending Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) service grievances, advocating for fair career advancement and service protections.
- Fair Pay Structure & Wages: The memorandum called for an end to arbitrary wage discrepancies and urged the implementation of a fair, standardized pay scale for teachers across all categories.
- Prohibition of Unauthorized Collections from Parents: ATTA urged strict administrative directives to halt unapproved monetary collections or hidden fees imposed on parents and guardians under various pretexts.
- Ending Political Interference in SMCs: The union strongly demanded a complete stop to political influence and external interference within School Management Committees (SMCs) to preserve administrative autonomy and academic integrity.
