At a recent party worker conference, former Chief Minister and current Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb strongly criticized CPI(M) State Committee Secretary Jiten Choudhury without directly naming him. The South District-based party worker conference was held at the Sachin Debbarman Auditorium in Belonia.
The conference began on Wednesday afternoon with the lighting of lamps and floral tributes to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee by the leaders present on the stage, followed by the singing of the national anthem.
In his address, Biplab Kumar Deb stated, “He has left the party. We will not leave him. We will bring him to justice. What great justice will he deliver? He has been involved in theft and fraud. When the ‘Ginger Scam’ was mentioned, he said he didn’t do it, someone else did. At least he admitted to it. And now he will judge me? What a great leader he has become. He doesn’t know the north or south of Tripura. He wants to join the BJP because he doesn’t like the CPI(M) either. He doesn’t have the guts to contest from an ST-reserved seat. He is contesting from the general seat in Sabroom. If he hadn’t tangled with Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Manikya, he would have been finished. “
MP Biplab Kumar Deb, South District BJP Committee President Dipaayan Choudhury, Mandal President Sayantan Dutta, and other leaders were present at the conference. Leaders and party workers from various Mandals in the South District also attended the event.
The statements made by Biplab Kumar Deb indicate a deep rift and ongoing political battle, with accusations of corruption and opportunism being thrown.
