The Centre and Tripura are set to collaborate on boosting investment in the North East Region through stakeholder consultations and strategic planning. Union Minister of DoNER, Jyotiraditya Scindia, recently chaired a meeting with Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to discuss ‘Investment Promotion’ in the region.
During the meeting, it was decided that consultations would be held with industry associations, potential investors, and officials from other states in the North East to develop a strategic roadmap for promoting investments. The aim is to create a conducive environment for attracting investments and fostering economic growth in the region.
In a statement, Union Minister Scindia emphasized the importance of a unified vision for a vibrant and investment-ready Northeast. He also held a follow-up meeting with Tripura Chief Minister Saha and senior officials to review the progress of key developmental projects in the state.
Tripura, with its potential as a gateway for tourism, trade, agriculture, and investment in the Northeast, is seen as a key player in the region’s economic development. Scindia stressed the need to enhance infrastructure and harness the opportunities available in Tripura to drive inclusive growth and contribute to the overall development of the country.
Chief Minister Saha, as the convener of the High-Level Task Force on Investment Promotion in the North Eastern Region, highlighted the importance of engaging industry stakeholders, potential investors, and officials from other North Eastern states to formulate an Investment Policy for the region. The goal is to leverage the expertise of academic institutions and expert agencies to attract investments and spur economic development in the North East.
