AGARTALA: In a heart-wrenching appeal that highlights a family’s desperate race against time, Dhruba Chowdhury, the father of a young girl named Monoshree suffering from a rare, life-threatening genetic disease, addressed a press conference at the Agartala Press Club today to seek urgent financial help from the public.
Flanked by supporting members, a distraught Dhruba Chowdhury clarified the staggering medical expenses required to save his daughter’s life, dispelling ongoing rumors regarding the cost of the treatment.
”According to Dr. Shefali Gulati, the senior specialist treating Monoshree at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, the price of the life-saving injection required for her therapy is approximately ₹16.37 crore. There has been a widespread rumor circulating that the injection costs ₹9 crore—I want to explicitly state that this is incorrect and the actual amount needed is much higher,” Chowdhury clarified.
The father further shared that through the immense generosity of well-wishers and various ongoing crowdfunding campaigns, more than ₹4 crore has already been raised. However, a massive deficit remains to reach the final target.
With the medical window closing rapidly, the family has only one month left to administer the critical injection to ensure the toddler’s survival. Out of options and running against the clock, Monoshree’s father made a tearful appeal to the people of Tripura, as well as citizens across the nation, to come forward and contribute generously to save his daughter’s life.
