AGARTALA: Marking the sacred festival of sacrifice and absolute devotion, Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) was celebrated with profound religious solemnity, peace, and traditional grandeur across Tripura today, aligning with nationwide celebrations. Thousands of devout Muslims filled elegantly decorated mosques, open-air Idgahs, and community prayer grounds across all eight districts to perform their special morning festive prayers (Namaz).
In the capital city of Agartala, the focal point of the spiritual gathering was the historic Gedu Mia Mosque in Shibnagar. Devotees of all ages, dressed in traditional attire, began streaming into the mosque premises from the early hours of dawn, exchanging warm greetings of “Eid Mubarak.”
Spiritual Confluence at Gedu Mia Mosque
The central Eid congregation at the Gedu Mia Mosque commenced precisely at 8:30 AM, with the sprawling main hall and adjoining shaded courtyards filled to capacity.
Highlights of the Central Eid Service:
- Led by the Head Cleric: The prestigious morning Eid prayers were solemnized under the guidance of Maulana Abdul Rahman, who led the thousands of assembled faithful through the spiritual steps of the Namaz.
- The Khutbah (Sermon): Following the conclusion of the prayers, Maulana Abdul Rahman delivered a moving sermon highlighting the profound life and sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim, urging the gathering to incorporate selflessness, charity, and absolute truth into their daily lives.
- Special Prayers for Peace: The congregation concluded with a collective, emotional Duas (supplications), where the assembly prayed for global peace, national prosperity, communal harmony, and the overall well-being of the state of Tripura.
Emphasizing the Spirit of Sacrifice and Community Welfare
Immediately following the conclusion of the formal religious services, traditional custom took center stage as families participated in the ritualistic Qurbani (sacrifice).
”Today is a day to renew our commitment to the values of empathy and humanism. The true beauty of Eid-ul-Adha lies in sharing our blessings. Following our prayers led by Maulana Abdul Rahman, our primary focus is to ensure that the meat from the festival is distributed systematically, ensuring that the underprivileged, our neighbors, and relatives celebrate this day with equal joy and dignity,” a senior member of the Gedu Mia Mosque Management Committee expressed to reporters.
SimultANEOUS congregations were recorded with massive turnouts at the Agartala Town Central Mosque, alongside sub-divisional central mosques in Sonamura, Kailashahar, Dharmanagar, and Udaipur. To ensure a peaceful festive atmosphere, the Tripura Police alongside local sub-divisional administrations deployed adequate security patrols and streamlined traffic diversions surrounding all major religious venues, allowing the day’s celebrations to conclude with flawless harmony.
