AGARTALA: In a structured bid to fortify veterinary outreach and boost the rural dairy economy, the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) organized a high-profile state-level workshop on Thursday. The event, hosted at the auditorium of Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, marked a major milestone for the department with the formal launch of an official ARDD corporate identity logo and a mass distribution drive of medical kits to Pashu Sakhis (community livestock caregivers).
The state-level mobilization program was inaugurated by Animal Resources Development Minister Sudhangshu Das, who attended as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied on stage by departmental directors, veterinary experts, and animal husbandry specialists from across the state’s eight districts.
The Role of ‘Pashu Sakhis’ in Veterinary Logistics
The Pashu Sakhi initiative, conceived under state-sponsored rural livelihood schemes, trains village-level women entrepreneurs to act as frontline paramedics for livestock. They provide baseline medical support, vaccination mapping, and nutritional counseling to dairy farmers.
Key Highlights of the Kit Distribution:
- Specialized Medical Kits: The newly distributed medical kits contain essential veterinary first-aid supplies, temperature monitors, sanitization gear, and baseline medications to treat minor livestock ailments on-site.
- Doorstep Testing Equipment: The tools enable fast identification of common cattle and poultry infections, dramatically reducing the response time before a formal veterinary surgeon can be reached.
- Preventative Logistics: Armed with these kits, caregivers will systematically execute mass deworming and immunization charts across rural sub-divisions.
Unveiling the Official ARDD Brand Identity
A major highlight of the Pragna Bhavan convention was the official unveiling of the standalone brand logo for the Animal Resources Development Department. The newly curated logo visually integrates dairy, poultry, and animal welfare themes under the state banner, symbolizing Tripura’s modern transition toward automated, tech-driven livestock monitoring.
“Transforming Animal Husbandry into a Highly Profitable Sector”: Minister Sudhangshu Das
Addressing the vast gathering of dairy farmers and rural women workers, ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das outlined the government’s investment layout, noting that self-reliance in milk, meat, and egg production is central to rural poverty alleviation.
”Our frontline Pashu Sakhis are the true backbone of Tripura’s rural dairy ecosystem. By equipping them with advanced medical kits today, we are ensuring that livestock owners do not face sudden economic losses due to manageable diseases.
Furthermore, the unveiling of our official logo represents a systematic structural shift toward corporate-level accountability within the department. We are executing a well-planned strategy to bridge the gap between lab research and field implementation, making livestock rearing highly profitable for marginal farmers,” Minister Sudhangshu Das announced during his keynote address.
The day-long workshop also featured specialized technical sessions where veterinary scientists trained the delegates on advanced artificial insemination methods, fodder preservation techniques during monsoon seasons, and utilizing government mobile veterinary units effectively.
